Vintage German Gischard Banjo Style Weather Station: A Three-in-One Classic

• This is a wonderful vintage piece of classic German precision instrumentation. Known for their high-quality household weather equipment, Gischard (short for J.G. Gischard, likely the Gischard of the early-to-mid 20th century in West Germany) designed beautiful, accurate pieces that double as a piece of classic wall art.
• The weather station is a complete package.
• The topmost section houses a functional liquid-column thermometer, giving you the current indoor temperature in Fahrenheit.
• A sleek, golden-toned face and classic block numbers make it easy to read.
• The center, main event is the larger aneroid barometer, featuring the distinctive Gischard signature.
• This dial, set in a gleaming brass bezel, offers clear predictions based on barometric pressure: "Rain," "Fair," "Changeable," "Stormy," and "Very Dry." It has an elegant, radial brass-on-gold face. The black, pointer hand shows you where the pressure is now, while the thinner, brass pointer can be set to track where it was to forecast coming changes.
• Anchoring the bottom of the "banjo" is the distinct circular relative humidity hygrometer. This dial, set in brass and under glass, reads the air's moisture content, marked with a logical gradient from "Dry" to "Normal" to "Moist" with a percentage of relative humidity scale.
• This piece has been loved and has a few character-building age-related signs to prove it.
•  Condition Assessment: The rich, dark-stained wood case has a brilliant shine but also has scattered minor nicks and scratches, primarily at the very edges and corners, such as the top 'pediment' and bottom circular frame. There are also tiny, superficial marks on the barometer dial face. Please note that the main glass cover over the barometer has a crack that runs from the 3 o’clock position to the 6 o’clock position. This doesn't seem to affect its ability to hold pressure.
• Dimensions: 22" long x 6" wide.
